Aaron Pena began his martial arts journey in 1999, dedicating himself to a varied and extensive training regimen. His early years from 1999 to 2009 were shaped at Palacios Martial Arts where he trained in Traditional Gungfu, learning forms and weapons under Sifu John Palacios. This extensive training provided him with a solid foundation in martial arts techniques.
During this period, Aaron also ventured into Sanda, or Chinese Kickboxing, competing actively between 2001 and 2009. His dedication to Sanda led him to compete in the Chin Woo World Championships, where he earned Bronze and Silver medals in 2005 and 2007, respectively.
In 2007, Aaron joined Screaming Eagles Boxing Gym, where he trained until 2013. His efforts came to fruition in 2010 when he won the Houston Golden Gloves Championship.
Aaron's transition from competitor to coach saw him profoundly impact the lives of numerous athletes. With a teaching career spanning 25 years, he has trained hundreds of students and boxers. His efforts have led to the emergence of 12 Golden Gloves champions and one Ringside World Champion, reflecting his ability to nurture and enhance the talents of his students.
Beyond boxing, Aaron's influence extends to Sanda, where he has coached several national and world champions. Additionally, his guidance was instrumental for two Invicta MMA world champions in the Bantamweight Division, Lauren Taylor and Tonya Evinger, and both went on to fight for the UFC World Titles.
His contributions to the world of combat sports don't end there. Aaron has also been pivotal in the careers of several MMA fighters, both amateur and professional. Notable names among his trainees include Gaby Echavarry, Paris Moran, Anthony Toro, Isaac Moreno and Dimas Chapa. His expertise and dedication have helped these fighters achieve remarkable successes in their respective careers.
Among his notable achievements as a coach is the training of an IBO boxing female world champion, further attesting to his ability to develop world-class talent across various disciplines of combat sports.
